Get Organized. for real this time.

Very very soon I will be moving back to Birmingham, which is very exciting because I will be able to decorate again! This means my very own home, and actually being able to drill into the walls. I have been gathering some photos for good storage ideas and other random bits of inspiration.
Above you will see my attempt at making my craft room look clean. Really I just push it up against the walls because I have run out of shelves and drawers, and space in general I guess. Some of the pictures below are my favorites. I like to pick out parts of each house and make it my very own. So, a couple of my most anticipated ideas include: (but are not limited to)

1. camera storage

I have about 9 vintage cameras which I have been trying to figure out a way to display. I am now on the look out for wooden boxes which hang from the wall so I can place my cameras on. SUCH a great idea.

2. brightly colored walls and raw wood shelves.

I cant quite decide if painting the walls a bright color like this salmon will be too overpowering? Then again all white walls are a little boring unless you have tons of frames and artwork to fill them with.

3. cozy bathroom yes please!

Alright lets be honest. Who wouldn't want to have this as their bathroom. With so many pretty things to look at while you do your business. hehe. The bathroom would become almost a haven for inspiration!

I'm not quite sure how expensive this may actually be to install but I love the idea of floor to ceiling shelving. It is not only practical, but it can also become your own personal storage box. Which may even change with your mood from day to day, or week to week. Also, it couldn't hurt to have an amazing vintage bike on display!

The Most Unusual Gift

I have a hilarious story you must read, and pictures to follow. Yesterday my talented friend Mary Moody took the time to sketch me up. Mary is a fashion designer and beautiful model, and she has plenty of other pretty drawings here.Well, I got a phone call from Mary yesterday right after I saw this beautiful drawing. Mary said she had just recently picked up something very unusual and would not tell me what is was, but she said If I wanted it I could have it. I thought maybe it was some old jeans or funky grandma dress for my shop, but no. It is even better.

She pulls up in front of my house gets out of her car and opens the trunk. Sitting quietly in the back was a greenish mannequin in what looked to be curled in a fetus position. She grabs the mannequin out of the back of the car, as I am laughing, and hands it to me.

I simply love that I am the first person she may think of to give this very unusual gift.

I have named her Trixy.. Soon she will sitting in my back yard overgrown with moss, flowers and vines. At least I hope this will happen. But for now she is sitting happily on my couch.

I love it! Thanks Mary.

Spring Vintage Photoshoot for the shop

Yesterday I ventured out to the beautiful outskirts of Tuscaloosa with two of my lovely friends! Mary Catherine Moody modeled clothes for my shop while Rachael Roberts photographed. Mary was a great model, and made it pretty easy to get great shots and still have an amazing time. All of the clothes you see below are for sale on my Etsy site. Graduation Finally

Its TIME! It just so happens that my little sister and I are BOTH graduating.
Lily will be graduating from Mountain Brook High School, and I will be a graduate from UA (Tusaloosa) by the end of the summer.
SO, this past weekend I took some time to photograph my beautiful little sis for her graduation invites. We found this really funky run down bridge in Homewood. It also was a lovely surprise to be located right next to a lively creek, and some insnae graffitti underneath. I just want to take a second to describe how incredibly proud I am of my little sis. She has moved through three different high schools as a result of my parents separation, but each place she ended up she made some lasting friends and of course some kick butt art. Lily is super intelligent and an incredible artists . You can check out some of her writing and poetry on her blog HERE. Like myself she has a love for discarde items and vintage finds, she creates these mysterious shadow boxes from all of the trinkets she collects throughout her adventures.

Jazz Fest Nola

This past weekend I drove down to New Orleans with Gavin to visit the family. We initially planned to visit Jazz Fest, enjoy some good tunes, food, and art. However, we both quickly realized that since it was the last week of school we had TONS of work and studying to do. We ended up selling the tickets, dropping off Gavin's lil sis at the fest and heading to a small coffee shop to get some studying done. Well long story short we ditched the coffee shop to do a little thrifting! It was even Gavin's idea! I found tons of goodies, and now I am convinced that New Orleans does have a few great thrift stores. Thanks to Goodwill for opening up a HUGE store right down town. I must say though, America's Thrift store is still my favorite.





Here are a few pictures from our dinner. Crayfish and Shrimp of course. We had to indulge before the awful oil spill ruins all of the yummies.
